wendy kidd

Wendy Kidd is a hair maker, music maker, and friend maker.  Her private studio is a speakeasy hair parlor for city dwellers and seekers of unusual charms. Located in the heart of the vibrant East Village, Wendy Kidd Studio is a precious gem tucked inside a historic late 1800's residential building. Beautifully designed by the talented Jim Fairfax. This delightful hideaway reflects the energy of a time when Manhattan held back some of it's magical secrets for those "in the know"

what's the story?

Wendy Kidd wants you to love your hair. Her diverse clientele ranges from butchers, bakers and candlestick makers to CEO's, bankers, lawyers, advertising execs, artists, musicians, actors, artists, and other creative types.

A multidimensional artist, Wendy Kidd has more than fifteen years experience in the beauty industry. In the early 2000's she opened Dandie, a cutting-edge hair salon on the Lower East Side. She sold the successful business when she decided to shift focus towards offering more personalized service in a lower key intimate atmosphere, and Wendy Kidd Studio was born.

With her signature edgy style and warm personality, Wendy offers haircuts, and aromatherapy treatments, for hair and scalp  customized for each valued client. Wendy’s innovative work has been lauded in magazines, books and on TV, including Vogue, Elle Decor, Nylon, Details, Paper, Surface, OUT, Time Out New York, Nerve.com’s anthology “Sex Advice From…,” MTV series “Makeover Madness” and more.

When not cutting hair, Wendy plays drums in various New York City bands and enjoys strolling with her beloved Boston Terrier Wyatt around the East Village in NYC or in Los Feliz, Silver Lake, and WEHO areas in LA.  She enjoys strong coffee, stimulating conversation, good friends, meeting new people, traveling, collecting ink, seeing art, going to films and listening to music. She loves helping people feel good about themselves by honoring each individual’s uniqueness.
